The Task:

In 2024, Redbox embarked on a comprehensive rebrand to refresh its image and strengthen its presence in the evolving entertainment market. The goal was to modernize Redbox's image, shifting away from its legacy as a kiosk DVD rental service and positioning it as a digital-first brand in the streaming space, while maintaining strong brand recognition and appealing to a younger, more diverse audience.

Built for how we watch now

I led the full visual identity, a redrawn wordmark, a bolder color system built around red and deep purple in place of the old legacy blue, and a unified design language applied consistently across the app icon, home screen, rent-and-buy flow, live TV, and every digital touchpoint where customers now meet the brand, day to day.

The result is a Redbox app that finally feels built for how people actually watch television today: home, rent-and-buy, live TV, and curated deals, all redesigned around one confident visual system that finally reads as digital-first rather than a DVD kiosk still trying to catch up.
